The virtual International PIAAC Research Conference 2022, held on March 24 and 25, was a resounding success. 155 active participants joined a virtual event platform to follow the diverse program.

Six symposia and eight paper sessions were spread over the two days of the event and focused on topics such as „Cognitive skills and lifelong learning“, „Determinants of cognitive skills“ or „Skill use and skill mismatch“. The program was rounded off by two keynotes by Dr. Irwin Kirsch ("Enhancing the Utility of International Large-Scale Assessments") and Prof. Dr. Rolf van der Velden ("This Is A Skills World"), both of which are also available as so-called "graphic recordings".

The conference had been scheduled after the publication of the data from 3rd PIAAC round of cycle 1 as well as the field test of PIAAC cycle 2 . This allowed to look at results based on more than 40 countries and to address survey methodological issues from the second PIAAC cycle.
