GESIS Panel

Short Submission to the GESIS Panel.pop

The Short Submission offers researchers the opportunity to collect survey data free of charge on the basis of a short questionnaire. The GESIS Panel team reviews the questionnaire internally, but in contrast to a Regular Submission there is no external review procedure. Therefore, you will usually receive a result on your submission after only four weeks. Data collection and use in a Regular Submission are free of charge. Studies can be submitted at any time.

Within the framework of a Short Submission, both cross-sectional and longitudinal data can be collected. In contrast to a Regular Submission, no experimental groups are possible in a Short Submission. At the same time, the survey time is limited to one minute per wave (according to our time measurement). This roughly corresponds to:

  • Five short single-choice questions or
  • Three multiple-choice questions with a maximum of seven items or
  • Two open-ended questions

Submissions with a mixture of the three question types mentioned are of course possible.

In our FAQ about data collection with the GESIS Panel.pop you find answers about general questions. Before submitting your application, we also recommend that you familiarise yourself with the FAQ Questionnaire Design (190 kB) and the Survey Style Guide (1.63 MB).

Publish and search for measurement instruments with ZIS

If your submission aims at developing new measurement instruments (single items, scales) or improving existing ones, we encourage you to publish your measurement instrument in ZIS cost-free and in a citable form. ZIS is an open access repository for social and behavioral science measurement instruments hosted by GESIS. ZIS includes more than 300 instruments (as of 2022), for example, items measuring political attitudes or personality. Here you can find more information about the publication of measurement instruments in ZIS.
