Weighting

In this document, the theoretical principles of weighting survey data are discussed and various weighting methods are further explained using concrete application examples. The document serves as a basis for a unified documentation of the weighting processes in the survey programs of the Integrated Survey and Data Infrastructure (IEDI), as well as an improved understanding of the criteria used to weight survey data. It also clarifies the effects of (non-)weighting. In order to provide the most comprehensive overview possible, different types of design weighting and adjustment weighting are explained in more detail and the procedure is illustrated with selected examples.
