Train-the-Trainer for Data Quality Teaching

Train-the-Trainer for Data Quality Teaching

To further increase the scaling of the Academy's offerings, KODAQS Academy will also offer training offerings for university teaching in addition to the certificate program and individual use at the bachelor’s or master’s degree courses in the social sciences. The strategy consists of developing Open Educational Resources, aiming to develop methods to teach learning content on various aspects of data quality according to the train-the-trainer principle. The overall purpose is to enable teaching and learning multipliers to sensitize students to the topic of data quality at an early stage of their career. This offer is supplemented by accompanying materials specifically developed for university teaching, such as slide sets and exercises with code examples, which are adapted to the level of competence and needs of students.

Program Overview

  • The purpose of KODAQS Train-the-Trainer program is to provide guidance and develop resources for “multiplying actors” (instructors) who will raise awareness of the topic of data quality in university teaching and introduce data quality competently into teaching.
  • This training is aimed at lecturers at universities and colleges who would like to incorporate further training resources and curriculum in teaching data quality in higher education.
  • KODAQS Train-the-Trainer provides a series of materials and guidance available as open educational resources.
  • KODAQS instructors will share best practices for teaching the topic of data quality in university learning. These discussions take place as prerecorded online Colloquium Series, therefore permanently available for all the participants interested.
  • This Colloquium Series are supplemented by the entire offer of didactical resources accessible via the KODAQS Individual Training Program, which then can be adapted to the level of competence and needs from university students.

The program is structured under two main components of asynchronous learning:

I. KODAQS Train the Trainer online Colloquium Series: a series of discussion seminars which develop on the best practices and own experiences learnt from instructors teaching each of the four Modules of the Academy Certificate Program.

II. KODAQS Academy didactical resources for instructors

The resources and materials available for instructors should be available via the Moodle platform, consisting of two STRATEGIES:

A. Access to the KODAQS Individual Training Program

The participants of the Train the Trainer program will be enrolled into the KODAQS Individual Training Program  for an adequate understanding of the structure and teaching formats of the program, as well as to understand the rationale behind the data quality approach. This guarantees an easier adaptation to the instruction and learning context needed by the participants for their own teaching strategies.

B.  Open access to didactical materials from KODAQS Academy

Participants have access to a dedicated to all downloadable materials and didactical resources from the KODAQS Academy under a structured index and reference to the contents of each resource.
