The GLES for the 2025 German federal election

For the 2025 German federal election, the GLES conducted several surveys: GLES Cross-Section, GLES Rolling Cross-Section, GLES Panel, GLES Tracking, GLES Candidate Study, and GLES Nomination Study. Overview of the GLES for the 2025 federal election

Cross-Section

  • Post-election survey of about 7,000 respondents
  • Register sample, if necessary additionally PostDirekt sample

The Cross-Section is particularly suitable for the analysis of classic electoral research, including international comparative analysis.

  • Rolling cross-section survey of about 7,600 respondents
  • about 160 interviews per day (about 25 minutes) over 48 days before the federal election in a rolling cross-section design
  • supplementary wave (about 25 minutes) before the election
  • post-election re-interview (about 20 minutes) in a rolling cross-section design
  • online (CAWI)

The Rolling Cross-Section is particularly suitable for analyzing campaign effects and the impact of specific events on public opinion.

  • up to 15,000 active plus about 10,000 newly recruited participants

  • one wave directly after the federal election
  • one wave on the formation of government

The Panel is particularly suitable for analyzing political attitude change and decision-making processes in the course of federal election campaigns and between federal elections.
