The GLES Candidate Study European Election 2024 (ZA7960) contains interviews with 200 candidates of the German parties represented in the Bundestag or the European Parliament before the 2024 European elections. The survey, to which all candidates of these parties were invited, was conducted by means of online interviews (CAWI) in the period from June 10, 2024 to September 25, 2024.

The core of the study consists of questions on the political background, the nomination of candidates, the election campaign, political topics, democracy and representation. A special focus is on questions regarding the use of social media in election campaigns.

Due to the high sensitivity of the data, the data are only accessible for academic research and teaching after written application and approval of the data provider. Linking with other individual-level data, such as GLES Candidate Study European Election 2024, Social Media Accounts (ZA7959) or European Parliament Election 2024: German Candidates Social Media Activities (ZA8917), is only possible with an extended data use agreement.
