Abstract

The subject of the project application is the content and technological expansion of the microdata information system MISSY. MISSY was developed at GESIS partly with financial support from the BMBF and supports the social science profession in research work with the microcensus. In the future, further official microdata will be documented in MISSY in a structured manner. An application has been made to integrate the metadata for two official surveys that are widely used by the scientific community: the European Labor Force Survey (EU-LFS) and the European Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC).

In addition to the content preparation and input of metadata, an expansion of the technological basis is necessary. The data entry tool and access to the metadata available on the web must be expanded. These enhancements primarily concern multilingualism and documentation at country level in the case of European data. To ensure the use of the project results, the subsequent use of the metadata by other providers (e.g. research data centers) will be supported. On the other hand, the central services of MISSY are provided as open source software.
