Document Deposit Assistant (DDA) promotes Open Access

For two years, GESIS has been puzzling and working and screwing, and now it's ready to go: The Document Deposit Assistant (DDA) makes it easy to import large full-text quantities into the Social Science Open Access Repository SSOAR.

With the support of the DFG, the project team at GESIS succeeded in developing the DDA, which had already been presented in September at the newly introduced Tool Marketplace of the Open Access Days in Dresden and caused a furor there. The DDA is characterized by an enormous simplification of the import workflow of full texts: from receiving the texts to the conversion of different data formats into the format required for SSOAR up to the final import into the repository the DDA supports all working steps. The prototype can accept data deliveries via the interfaces OAI-PMH and unAPI and in the file formats XML and Excel. It was programmed using the popular Java-based Spring Framework.
