Research

Marlene's research interests are located in the field of political culture. In her dissertation, she has compared citizen attitudes towards the political regime between democracies and autocracies and has analyzed both the individual- and the system-level determinants of these attitudes. Other research interests include political value orientations, (sources of) political trust, and issues of cross-country comparability.
