The many faces of GESIS
Vita
Mazlum Karatas is a postdoctoral researcher in the CEWS team at GESIS. He is a quantitative researcher with a Ph.D. in Economics. He received his Ph.D. and Master's degrees at Università Politecnica delle Marche in Italy.At CEWS, he is a research assistant of the EU-funded INSPIRE project. The project's objective is to establish Europe's sustainable centre of excellence for inclusive gender equality. His methodological research contributes to the development of suitable instruments and methods for the Europe-wide monitoring of gender equality plans at scientific and research intensive institutions.

Research
His research focus of his doctoral studies has been on the impact of cultural factors on international trade and economics. His current research has focused on reactive (survey) and non-reactive data collection methods, e.g., web scraping and automated text analysis.
