Vita

Johannes Breuer is Senior Researcher and head of the Digital Society Observatory team in the Computational Social Science department at GESIS. Johannes Breuer has been working at GESIS since April 2017. Previously, he was a Senior Researcher in the teams Survey Data Augmentation (Department Survey Data Curation) and Data Linking & Data Security (Department Data Archive for the Social Sciences). From July 2021 to April 2024, he also headed the Research Data & Methods team at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) in Bochum (from October 2021 to September 2023 together with Katrin Weller). Before joining GESIS, Johannes Breuer worked as a doctoral and postdoctoral researcher in various projects at the University of Cologne, the University of Hohenheim, the University of Münster and the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) in Tübingen. He studied media studies (media Psychology & media cultural studies) at the University of Cologne (Diplom – equivalent to M.A., 2007) and also completed his doctorate in psychology at the University of Cologne (Ph.D., 2013).
