Starting on 1 February 2026, our Department Survey Design & Methodology (SDM), Team Cross-cultural Survey Methods, located in Mannheim, is looking for a
Researcher (Post-Doc)
(Salary group 13 TV-L, working time 100 %, 2-year contract)
Your tasks will be:
- Managing the project from a content point of view, in close collaboration with a GESIS internal software developer and external language experts and service providers who, among other things, provide multilingual answer scales, evaluate them, or enrich them with meta-information
- Being the contact person for the relevant social science research communities
- Drafting of guidelines for assessing the equivalence of multilingual answer scales, for replication by the research communities
- Disseminating the repository at various stages of the project
- Project-related research, e.g., on the equivalence of answer scales
Your profile:
- Completed Master’s degree and PhD in the social sciences, e.g., in psychology, sociology, political science, or a related field; experience with intercultural substantive or methodological research is an advantage
- Very good knowledge of social science methods and in data analysis (e.g. R or Stata)
- A strong interest in collaborating with software developers, including on software development, and in multilingual research
- Structured, independent, and procative way of working
- Very good written and spoken English; knowledge of German is an advantage
