Open-Access Online-Journal “Measurement Instruments for the Social Sciences” moves to another publisher

Categories: GESIS-News

At the beginning of 2023, the open access online journal "Measurement Instruments for the Social Sciences" has been moved to ZPID (Leibniz Institute of Psychology, Trier, Germany) as publisher. All legal and technical preparations for a move from BMC/Springer Nature to ZPID have been successfully completed.

After the journal (Editor-in-Chief: Beatrice Rammstedt) had prevailed in an application process to ZPID for inclusion in the attractive PsychOpen Gold Program (https://www.psychopen.eu/browse-publications/index.html), it was necessary to prepare for the move in 2022. This required not only a switch from the Editorial Manager to the OJS (Open Journal System) platform, but also a lot of work: from creating new templates and checklists, tutorials for the Editorial Board, to designing creative logos.

The reward for the effort is another attractive offer for readers as well as authors of measurement instruments in the social sciences: Every conceivable access hurdle and any fees (Article Processing Charges, APC) for authors will be eliminated in the future with this readjusted open access offer!

Springer had shown itself to be an experienced, viable partner for the founding phase of the journal. With the change of the publishing house, there are now new advantages and greater freedom in dealing with the submission system and submissions. Manuscripts in process until the end of 2022 have been transferred from Springer to ZPID. Existing archives of the journal including Special Issues as well as ongoing Article Collections are also available under the journal's new web presence.
