Vita

Marlene studied political science and communication studies in Mainz (Germany) and Kristiansand (Norway). She received her PhD in political science from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2017. From 2012 to 2018, she worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Political Science, JGU Mainz. Since October 2018, Marlene is a postdoctoral researcher at Gesis, working with the European Data Laboratory for Comparative Social Research (EUROLAB) and Gesis Training.

At EUROLAB, Marlene is the main contact person for the EUROLAB Grant funding scheme.
At GESIS Training, Marlene is responsible for coordinating the Spring Seminar.

Research

Marlene's research interests are located in the field of political culture. In her dissertation, she has compared citizen attitudes towards the political regime between democracies and autocracies and has analyzed both the individual- and the system-level determinants of these attitudes. Other research interests include political value orientations, (sources of) political trust, and issues of cross-country comparability.
