Vita

I am an industrial engineer and a computational social science researcher with a Ph.D. in Software and Information Systems from the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte in 2019. My research interests are analyzing data from various social media platforms (e.g. Twitter and Facebook) and online comments/discussions forums (e.g. Disqus), understanding the structure of social networks, and building models with system dynamics and agent-based modeling approaches to study the relationship between interconnected variables (parameters) and possible scenarios/policies. Before joining the Computational Social Science Department at GESIS, I have worked as a researcher in several institutions, such as the Data Science Initiative and Complex Systems Institute at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte (2015-2019), Santa Fe Institute in New Mexico (2019-2020), and Communication Science and Media Studies at the NOVA University in Lisbon, Portugal (2020-2021). Also, I joined the Data Science for Social Good Europe/Portugal in the summer of 2017 as a project manager to work with a team, whose project is about identifying rooftop usage in Rotterdam with an aim of greener urban planning.
