Vita

Johannes N. Blumenberg studied political science and sociology at the Universities of Oldenburg and Heidelberg and received his PhD from the University of Mainz. From 2010 to 2013 he was a research assistant at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). From 2012 to 2016, he worked as a research assistant in the Department of Empirical Political Research at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. He has been working at GESIS in various positions since 2016: First as Science Manager for the GESIS Doctoral Program and Postdoc Program, since 2019 as Head of Team Training, and since 2023 together with Dr. Agathe Gebert as Department Head of the Knowledge Exchange and Outreach (KEO) Department.

Research

My research focusses on the supply and demand side of electoral behaviour. I am interested in what connects voters to political parties (linkage). During my doctorate, I developed the concept of Party Stereotypes. Aside I have published articles on candidates effects, länder elections in Germany, survey methodology, and tv-debates. To top
