The many faces of GESIS

Vita

Maikel Schwerdtfeger completed his bachelor and master studies in sociology at the University of Mannheim. During his studies, he was a student assistant at the GESIS Panel since 2014. Since December 2019, Maikel Schwerdtfeger is working as a research assistant in Survey Project Management in the GESIS Panel team.

Service

The service tasks of Maikel Schwerdtfeger include supervising and reviewing submitted studies for the GESIS Panel, developing questions on socially relevant topics, and creating the GESIS Panel questionnaire for different participation modes. In addition, he is responsible for collecting and reporting internal performance indicators of the GESIS Panel and is involved in various projects to optimize the survey on digital and mobile devices.

Research

Maikel Schwerdtfeger's research interests focus on survey methodology in the context of self-administered mixed-mode and mixed-device panel surveys. He is particularly interested in the user experience aspects of web surveys, including the investigation of broadband speeds and the evaluation of mobile-first layouts.
