New services for collecting Digital Behavioral Data

The inclusion of digital behavioral data adds new exciting and illuminating facets to social science research: Digital technologies can map human behavior in previously unattainable detail, especially when combined with survey data. Digital behavioral data complements the often cost-intensive and time-consuming conventional surveys and helps to complete the picture of society.

GESIS is addressing this development with new methods and services in the collection of socially relevant data. In addition to surveys, we are working on the following services for collecting digital behavioral data, which will soon be made available to the scientific community:

GESIS Panel DBD

The GESIS Panel Digital Behavioral Data Sample is the new sample in the GESIS Panel cosmos. With the GESIS Panel.dbd you can conduct your own surveys in which web tracking data is linked to online surveys. Like the well-known GESIS Panel Population Sample (GESIS Panel.pop), GESIS Panel.dbd also offers high-quality data that is also available for secondary analyses.

GESIS Web Tracking

GESIS Web Tracking is our research software for recording browser-based online behavior. It provides a valid map of individual media use and can give a more comprehensive picture of human behavior and its consequences, especially in conjunction with established survey instruments on attitudes

The GESIS AppKit enables the smartphone-based collection of survey and sensor data. The AppKit includes an interactive dashboard that enables researchers to design studies and manage study participants, as well as an app to survey study participants on Android and iOS phones.
