Collecting digital behavioral data
The inclusion of digital behavioral data adds new exciting and illuminating facets to social science research. Digital behavioral data are complementing surveys and helping to complete the picture of society. GESIS is tackling this development with new methods and services.
Questionnaire development
The basis for meaningful, empirical social research are suitable and evaluated measurement instruments for recording attitudes, values and behavior. You will find proven and tested survey instruments in our ZIS and pretest database repositories. The Survey Quality Predictor (SQP) offers you the opportunity to estimate the measurement quality of your items and our Cognitive Pretesting service checks your questionnaire design and wording for comprehensibility and content validity.
ZIS
ZIS is a repository that provides freely accessible social and behavioral measurement instruments for reuse. All of these instruments are quality-assured and described in detail. In terms of content, ZIS covers validated instruments for recording personal characteristics such as personality, attitudes and behavior in German and English free of charge.
Cognitive Pretesting
Cognitive pretests check whether items are comprehensible and whether they are interpreted as intended by the respondents. They are used in particular when developing or adapting new survey instruments in order to ensure their quality.
Survey Quality Prediction SQP
The Survey Quality Predictor (SQP) is a web-based open-access software for estimating the measurement quality of items. At the same time, SQP is also a searchable database in which items for survey projects can be researched.
KODAQS-Academy
The KODAQS Data Quality Academy meets the great demand for theoretical and, above all, practical data science skills with a focus on data quality with a structured blended learning training program. The various offerings, such as the certificate program, individual training and train-the-trainer resources, teach what constitutes data quality and how quality problems can be identified and corrected.
The data focus of the KODAQS Academy consists of survey data, digital behavioral data and data links, e.g. with digital behavioral data, administrative data or geodata.
The KODAQS Academy is a service of the Competence Center Data Quality in the Social Sciences (KODAQS), a partnership between GESIS, the University of Mannheim and the LMU Munich.
