Collecting digital behavioral data

The inclusion of digital behavioral data adds new exciting and illuminating facets to social science research, complementing surveys and helping to complete the picture of society. GESIS is tackling this development with new methods and services in the collection of socially relevant data.

GESIS Web Tracking

GESIS Web Tracking offers users research software for recording browser-based online behavior in order to validly map individual media use. Particularly in conjunction with established survey instruments for researching attitudes and characteristics, this data can provide information about human behavior and its consequences.

GESIS Panel DBD

Together with the GESIS Panel Population Sample, the GESIS Panel Digital Behavioral Data Sample (GP.dbd) is part of the GESIS Panel Data Collection Infrastructure. A key feature of the GP.dbd is the collection of web tracking data, which can be linked to the online surveys. Like GP.pop, GP.dbd will in the near future offer the option of conducting your own surveys or evaluating survey and digital behavioral data that has already been collected for secondary analysis.

GESIS AppKit

The GESIS AppKit enables the smartphone-based collection of survey and sensor data. The AppKit includes an interactive dashboard that enables researchers to design studies and manage study participants, as well as an app to survey study participants on Android and iOS phones.
