Study: EU-SILC 2008

Titles

Title European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions 2008

Abstract

EU-SILC 2008 contains the 2008 Module on over-indebtedness and financial exclusion. The 2008 Module consists of 38 variables (five of them optional). Despite their number, not all questions were asked to all households because they depend on the positive answer to a previous question. The target variables relate exclusively to the household. Where dealing with financial services, the household should be understood as any member of the household.

Coverage

Geographical Coverage

EU-27 member states and Iceland, Turkey, Norway and Switzerland.

Datasets availability table and release calendar (Eurostat)

Time Period Covered

Reference period for core variables: constant, at selection, current situation, income reference period (12 months period), usual week, last 4 weeks, last 12 months, since last year, working life, childcare reference period (Eurostat (2010): DESCRIPTION OF TARGET VARIABLES: Cross-sectional and Longitudinal 2008 operation, p. 76). Similar to the previous surveys, three reference periods were used in the questionnaire: the reference period for most questions was 2006 to 2008, i.e. the three-year period from the beginning of 2006 to the end of 2008. The indicators on innovation expenditures were based on the calendar year 2008. Additionally, the turnover and employment of enterprises were requested for two years: 2006 and 2008. All countries collected the data in accordance with these reference periods. (Eurostat (2010): 2008 Final Quality Report CZ, p. 33.)
