Study on the Life Situation of Participants in Basic Education Courses

The AlphaPanel study on the life situation of (functional) illiterates was conducted by TNS Infratest Sozialforschung on behalf of the Humboldt University of Berlin. During the survey period from November 2009 to autumn 2010, participants in literacy courses at adult education centers were surveyed in three waves of personal interviews (CAPI) on the following topics: questions on course participation, health, employment situation, educational background, vocational training, family situation; changes in life situation, learning success in connection with course participation and dealing with reading and writing difficulties. The respondents were selected by means of a complete survey.
