PIAAC - Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies

International PIAAC Log Files

The PIAAC 2012 study was the first international large-scale assessment to implement a fully computer-based measurement of adults’ key competences. During the cognitive assessment, user interactions were logged automatically by the interview software. This means that most of the users’ actions during the direct assessment were recorded and stored with time stamps in separate so-called log files. The log files contain paradata for each participant for one or two of the following competence domains: literacy, numeracy, or problem solving in technology-rich environments. The availability of these log files and the detailed information contained therein offers exciting new research opportunities to data analysts. For instance, this data can be used to reproduce and better understand individual test-taking behavior. For more information see below or visit the OECD PIAAC Log File Website.

In this dataset all critical information in open entry text boxes were replaced with "X" to retain the information on the length of the entered text.
