Applied Computer Science

Given the rapid pace of change in information and science technologies, GESIS conducts research in the area of applied computer and information sciences to ensure delivery of the highest quality of GESIS products and services.

The aim of this research is to apply novel methods, models, and algorithms from computer science, to test, analyze, adapt, evaluate and further develop them in the context of the social sciences. Moreover, GESIS aims to collect and model new kinds of data (e.g., data from social media or sensor data), that are relevant to the social sciences. In that course novel and integrated research infrastructures are built, that are tailored for research questions from the social sciences and support all phases of the research data cycle.
