Fachinformationsdienst Politikwissenschaft (Folgeprojekt) (FID Politik 2)

The Specialised Information Service (FID) for Political Science, which is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation), optimises the supply of literature and the information infrastructure in the field of political science in Germany on a sustainable basis. The FID Political Science thus supports national political science research. The State and University Library Bremen (SuUB), together with its project partner, the GESIS - Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences, develops tailor-made services that are available to all researchers in the field of political science in Germany.

The FID Political Science sees itself as an information infrastructure tailored to the needs of the specialist community in terms of content and services. The supraregional availability of the content sustainably improves the nationwide provision of specialist political science information. In order to achieve this goal, a significant extension of the database is a fundamental prerequisite. Through the regular and continuous feedback of all essential measures and goals of the FID Political Science with the scientific community, it is ensured that the specific needs of the scientific community are met in a targeted manner. It is intended to develop specifically tailored value-added services. The FID Political Science is strictly oriented on the principle of the availability of specialist information offered by the search space. This applies to the supply of e-media as well as conventional media.

The FID Political Science focuses on the development of a comprehensive search space, which is closely oriented to the needs of the specialist community, and which provides direct access to electronic publications (e-books, e-journals, e-articles), scientific open access documents, research data as well as content from specialist databases and newspaper archives in a timely and location-independent manner. Printed publications, which are still important for political scientists, supplement the offer where electronic resources are not yet available. Thus, the literature and specialist information reaches the respective workplaces of the scientists without detours.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is funding the FID Political Science since July 2016 to September 2022.
