pairfam, Welle 14 (pairfam)
Abstract
Since 2008, the German Family Panel pairfam (“Panel Analysis of Intimate Relationships and Family Dynamics”) has been collecting survey data to research partnership and family dynamics in Germany. The annual panel, which is based on random register-based sample, consists of more than 12,000 persons of the three birth cohorts 1971-73, 1981-83, 1991-93, and their partners, parents, and children. The pairfam project is scheduled to end with wave 14 in 2022. Afterward, parts of pairfam will be transferred into the new data infrastructure “Family Research and Demographic Analysis” (FReDA). The transition of pairfam to FReDA comes along with changes in the response modes: instead of an interviewer-administered survey, data collection in wave 14 will be done in a self-administered web and mail format. In collaboration with the pairfam consortium, GESIS Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences will conduct the mixed-mode survey for wave 14 and organize the transition of the project to FReDA.
