The Integration of Refugee Children and Youth: A Systematic Review and Meta-analyses (RefugCY-SRMA)
Leader: Dr. Débora B. Maehler
Scientific unit: Dep. Survey Design and Methodology (SDM)
Abstract
The project aims at establishing a solid and comprehensive base for further research on the integration of refugee children and youth. First, we will provide a systematic review of current research published in three languages. The systematic review includes papers published in French-, German-, and English-language academic journals. We define three relevant dimensions for this review: Educational, social, and emotional integration. Second, we will conduct meta-analyses that summarize and review findings as well as methodological challenges and proposed solutions in this field. These will focus at three important areas: (1) factors influencing language proficiency, (2) factors influencing the emotional integration (e.g. sense of belonging), and (3) methodological issues in child and youth refugee research.
