According to its statutes, GESIS's purpose is to “promote science and research. The association provides fundamental, nationally and internationally significant research-based services for the social sciences. Its mission is to develop and improve social science research approaches and research instruments through basic research.” GESIS fulfills this statutory purpose by providing offers and services geared to researchers.
In addition, GESIS itself employs scientists who contribute to answering methodological and social science questions with their own research. This combination of research and infrastructure is what makes GESIS unique. Therefore, it is particularly important to the institute that both elements also mutually benefit from one another, thus enabling the provision and (further) development of a research-based infrastructure. Research activities at GESIS thus contribute significantly to the continuous improvement of GESIS's services, keeping them at the cutting edge of research and aligning the portfolio of services with the needs of researchers.
In this section, you will find extensive information on all current and completed third-party funded projects at GESIS, on current conferences in which GESIS is involved, on our collaborations at the national and international level, and information on guest research stays at our institute.
