Digital Behavioral Data

GESIS develops innovative methods for the collection of digital behavioral data in the social sciences. In line with the proprietary and privacy restrictions that apply to digital behavioral data – the resulting data is provided for scientific re-use. In particular, we collect contents and social interactions from online social media (e.g. political communication on the German federal election campaigns 2013 and 2017 on Twitter, monthly collections of articles on politicians in Wikipedia and the resulting hyperlink network). The SocioPatterns infrastructure enables the collection of data on interactions in specific social contexts via wearable sensors. We offer tailored data to the scientific community, please get in touch if you are interested in collaborating.
