Suitable measurement instruments are the basis of high-quality social science research to reliably and validly capture the attitudes, values, and behaviors of individuals and groups.
We provide you with both empirically proven and cognitively tested survey instruments (ZIS, pretest database), advise you on questionnaire design, and check the comprehensibility and content-related validity of newly developed or adapted items (cognitive pretesting). In addition, the Survey Quality Predictor (SQP) allows you to estimate the measurement quality of items that have not yet been tested.
ZIS
ZIS is an open-access repository that provides freely accessible social and behavioral measurement instruments. All of these instruments are quality-assured and documented in detail. ZIS covers validated instruments for measuring personal characteristics such as personality, attitudes, and behavior in German, English, and other languages.
Cognitive Pretesting
Cognitive pretests are used in the development or adaptation of survey instruments to ensure that the questions and items are understandable and interpreted as intended.
Survey Quality Predictor (SQP)
The Survey Quality Predictor (SQP) is a web-based open-access software for estimating the measurement quality of items. At the same time, SQP is also a searchable database in which items for survey projects can be found.
