The Thesaurus for the Social Sciences (Thesaurus Sozialwissenschaften) is a crucial instrument for the content-oriented search by keywords in SOFIS and SOLIS. The list of keywords contains about 12,000 entries, of which more than 8,000 are descriptors (authorised keywords) and about 4,000 non-descriptors. Topics in all of the social science disciplines are included.
The Thesaurus for the Social Sciences is also available in interactive form via sowiport. You can choose between alphabetic and systematic lists and between translations in english, german or russian.
The Thesaurus for the Social Sciences (German - English - French) is now available in SKOS-format. The current release is version 0.93, which uses SKOS-XL and additionally defined extensions. Furthermore cross-concordances to the STW Thesaurus for Economics of the ZBW as well as to the AGROVOC of the FAO are included (only via SPARQL and HTML representation). Additional technical enhancements and content updates are planned for the future. More detailed information about the conversion of the thesaurus to SKOS can be found here.
The SKOS version of the Thesaurus for the Social Sciences is available as a downloadable dump file in RDF/XML format (see the form below), RDF/Turtle (1.3 MB) as well as a Linked Data HTML representation. Additionally, a SPARQL endpoint, which serves as a technical interface for retrieving data from the thesaurus, is available.
