Lisa Schmid studierte Soziologie an der Universität Mannheim (B.A.) und der Universität zu Köln (M.Sc.). Von Oktober 2014 bis März 2020 war sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Universität zu Köln beschäftigt. Seit Oktober 2019 ist Lisa Schmid wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin bei GESIS, zunächst im Projekt „Harmonizing and synthesizing partnership histories from different research data infrastructures“ (HaSpaD) und seit April 2020 im Team Family Surveys, Abteilung DRS.
Im Rahmen ihrer Doktorarbeit an der Universität zu Köln untersuchte sie Determinanten von Ehestabilität in Deutschland (Promotion 2021).
