Vita

Sebastian Stier hat sein Studium in den Fächern Politische Wissenschaft, Geschichte und Öffentliches Recht an der Universität Heidelberg absolviert. Anschließend promovierte er in Heidelberg in einem Promotionskolleg mit dem Schwerpunkt Demokratieforschung und war in verschiedenen Funktionen und Projekten am Institut für Politische Wissenschaft tätig. In seiner Forschung verbindet er theoriegeleitete politikwissenschaftliche Fragestellungen mit innovativen Forschungsmethoden zur Analyse von großen Datenbeständen aus sozialen Medien. Darüber hinaus untersucht er die netzpolitische Regulierung und politische Online-Kommunikation im Länder- und Regimevergleich.

In der Abteilung Computational Social Science ist Herr Stier dem Team Social Analytics and Services zugeordnet, in dem Forschung zur sozialwissenschaftlichen Nutzung von Internetdaten mit dem Aufbau neuer Serviceangebote verbunden wird.
