Call for Questions: GLES TrackingThe German Society for Electoral Studies (DGfW) and GESIS are conducting a Call for Questions for the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES). This call is aimed at the GLES Tracking survey in fall 2025 (Tracking T62: field start October 22, 2025 ). The GLES Tracking is a quota-based online survey that has been conducted as part of the GLES since 2009 and is currently conducted up to three times a year with around 1,000 respondents. The GLES Tracking questionnaire contains numerous standard questions of election research and is therefore ideally suited to collect innovative questions and questions aiming at specific issues. The call is open to all researchers regardless of their career stage. For more information about submitting, please visit our website. GESIS Workshops 2025/26 – Tailored to Your NeedsSocial scientists cannot run clinical trials on economic shocks, educational reforms, or access to healthcare — but that does not mean we cannot ask causal questions. The challenge is uncovering cause and effect from observational data — without lab coats, time machines, or randomized experiments.  | GESIS beruft Jost Henze in den neuen VorstandMit der im April 2024 in Kraft getretenen neuen Satzung hat GESIS – Leibniz-Institut für Sozialwissenschaften ein dreiköpfiges Vorstandsmodell eingeführt. Neben dem Präsidenten Prof. Christof Wolf und der Vizepräsidentin Prof. Beatrice Rammstedt gehört künftig auch ein administratives Vorstandsmitglied zur Leitung des Instituts. Mit Jost Henze übernimmt ab heute ein erfahrener Wissenschaftsmanager diese zentrale Rolle.
GESIS appoints Jost Henze to its new Administrative BoardWith the new statutes that came into force in April 2024, GESIS – Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences has introduced a three-member executive board model. In addition to President Prof. Christof Wolf and Vice President Prof. Beatrice Rammstedt, an administrative board member will also be part of the institute's management in the future. Jost Henze, an experienced science manager, will take on this central role starting today. |

 | Neuer Blog-Beitrag: Netscher, Karim & Meichsner schreiben über da|ra und die Zukunft der DOI-Registrierungda|ra – Registrierungsagentur für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten, ein Konsortium bei DataCite, befindet sich derzeit in der Umstrukturierung. Seit 2010 betreibt da|ra eine eigene Plattform zur Registrierung von Forschungsobjekten mittels eines Digital Object Identifiers (DOI), inklusive eines eigenen Metadatenschemas zur Förderung der FAIR Data Principles. Mit DataCite Fabrica steht mittlerweile eine niedrigschwellige Möglichkeit der DOI-Registrierung zur Verfügung. Das zugehörige DataCite Metadatenschema umfasst dabei relevante Metadaten zur Beschreibung sozial- und wirtschaftswissenschaftlicher Daten. Die Leitung des da|ra-Konsortiums hat daher beschlossen, die DOI-Registrierung von da|ra auf DataCite Fabrica umzustellen und die da|ra-Plattform ebenso wie die zugehörige Metadatendatenbank auslaufen zu lassen. New blog post: Netscher, Karim & Meichsner write about da|ra and the future of DOI Registrationda|ra - Registration Agency for Social Science and Economic Data, a consortium at DataCite, is currently under consolidation. Since 2010, da|ra runs its own layer to register research objects, such as data, with a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), employing an own metadata schema to foster FAIR data sharing. Nowadays, DataCite offers a low-threshold registration platform, i.e., DataCite Fabrica, and a metadata schema that considers most of the metadata relevant to describe social science and economic data. The consortium (co-)lead thus decided to transfer DOI registration from the da|ra layer to DataCite Fabrica, phasing out the layer and its metadata database. DOI: 10.34879/gesisblog.2025.97

Auf der Grundlage einer umfassenden Analyse von 880 Publikationen kam die Untersuchung zu dem Ergebnis, dass das Forschungsfeld PIAAC noch jung und geografisch vielfältig ist, wobei die Beiträge aus den Vereinigten Staaten und Deutschland dominieren. While PIAAC research relies on a broad pool of researchers with high collaboration rates, only a quarter of publications involve international collaboration. |
