Henning
Silber ist wissenschaftlicher Leiter des Survey Operations Teams am Department
of Survey Design and Methodology, GESIS Mannheim. Der Service- und
Forschungsschwerpunkt seines Teams liegt auf Umfrageplanung und -implementierung.
Er lehrt als Privatdozent quantitative sozialwissenschaftliche Methoden an der Universität
Mannheim. Seit Januar 2022 ist er
als Publications Chair Mitglied des Councils der World Assoication
for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR). Er hat einen Magisterabschluss in Soziologie und Deutscher
Philologie von der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. Nach Abschluss seines
Studiums lehrte er am Methodenzentrum Sozialwissenschaften der Georg-August-Universität
Göttingen. 2015 schloß er seine Promotion in Sozialwissenschaften mit einem Schwerpunkt
auf quantitativer empirischer Sozialforschung an der Georg-August-Universität
Göttingen ab. Seine Promotion wurde durch ein Promotionsstipendium der
Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes gefördert, das ihm einen
längeren Auslandsaufenthalt an der Stanford University (Political Psychology
Research Group am Department of Communication, 2012 bis 2014, USA) ermöglichte. 2023 hat er in sozialwissenschaftlicher Methodenlehre an der Universität Mannheim habilitiert. Als Gastwissenschaftler besuchte er das Population Research Center an der University of Texas at
Austin, das Department of Methodology and Statistics an der Utrecht University, NORC an der University of Chicago, und das Institute for Social Research an der University of Michigan.
Er hat mehrere Forschungsförderungen erhalten, unter anderem von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), dem Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF), dem Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE) an der University of Illinois at Chicago, der Association of Politics and Life Sciences (APLS), der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Online-Forschung (DGOF) und der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Fulbright-Kommission. Seine Forschungsinteressen umfassen die Bereiche
Umfragemethodik, politische Soziologie und experimentelle empirische Sozialforschung.
