The Families Office at Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) works to improve family-friendly study conditions at the university. In addition to a range of childcare options, FU Berlin offers the following services to make life easier for students with children:

preferential allocation of seminar places

e-learning in laboratory subjects for students who are pregnant or breastfeeding

option of attending classes and acquiring credits during periods of leave

semesters of leave for students who are pregnant or caring for children. The general rules for semesters of leave (only as of the third semester, upper limits for the number of semesters taken as leave) do not apply in the case of periods of leave of up to three years for maternity leave or childcare.
