Inhalt: Why do inequalities persist betweenmale and female scientists, when the causes are well-researched and widely condemned? In part, because equality has many dimensions. Presenting eightdefinitions of gender equality, we show each is important but incomplete. Rigid application of any single equality indicator can therefore have perverse outcomes.
Handbook on the International Political Economy of Gender
Herausgeber/in:
Elias, Juanita; Roberts, Adrienne
Quelle: Cheltenham, UK: Edward Elgar Publishing (Handbooks of research on international political economy), 2018. x, 522 S
Inhalt: The Handbook of the International Political Economy of Production offers a comprehensive, state-of-the-art overview of the changing world of global production. The book explores the topic in a range of directions, including the human material 'used' in production across the globe and alternatives proposed from different quarters.
Chapters cover the geography of why and where jobs are moving in both manufacturing and services. The doubling of the world's available labour supply after the opening up of the planned economies in Europe and Asia has sharply tilted the balance of power towards giant corporations. Labour and the politics of work is analyzed in a number of key countries. Possible signs of a recovery of organized labour's negotiating power on this vastly expanded playing field are discussed in separate chapters, and a complete overview is provided of labour research networks currently active. This important volume addresses topics relating to the human and natural basis on which production rests, from the consequences of the exploitation of the body and mind to sex work, biotechnology, and the prospects for ecological re-balancing.

Inhalt: This Palgrave Handbook provides a definitive account of women’s political rights across all major regions of the world, focusing both on women’s right to vote and women’s right to run for political office. This dual focus makes this the first book to combine historical overviews of debates about enfranchising women alongside analyses of more contemporary efforts to increase women’s political representation around the globe. Chapter authors map and assess the impact of these groundbreaking reforms, providing insight into these dynamics in a wide array of countries where women’s suffrage and representation have taken different paths and led to varying degrees of transformation. On the eve of many countries celebrating a century of women’s suffrage, as well as record numbers of women elected and appointed to political office, this timely volume offers an important introduction to ongoing developments related to women’s political empowerment worldwide. It will be of interest to students and scholars across the fields of gender and politics, women’s studies, history and sociology.

Preisdifferenzierung nach Geschlecht in Deutschland : Forschungsbericht - Eine Studie im Auftrag der Antidiskriminierungsstelle des Bundes
Autor/in:
an der Heiden, Iris; Wersig, Maria
Quelle: , 2018.

Safety for whom? : Exploring femonationalism and care-racism in Sweden
Autor/in:
Sager, Maja; Mulinari, Diana
Quelle: Women's Studies International Forum, 68 (2018) , S 149–156
Inhalt: In Sweden, support for right-wing xenophobic parties and neo-Nazi inspired organisations are on the increase, and are connected with, and manifested through, an emotional regime of hate directed towards feminism and towards women embodying feminist agendas. At the same time, feminist-inspired concerns about gender equality are often mobilised and appropriated for racist and anti-immigration arguments.
The article explores this conjuncture between racism and anti-feminism as a political project, focusing particularly on how anti-feminist agendas act upon notions of trygghet (safety) and connects these to a nationalist and racist agenda. The article also explores the diverse ways in which self-identified antiracist feminists, many of them with migrant backgrounds and/or identifying as queer, confront these attacks and struggle for alternative understandings of safety that transcend hetero-patriarchal and ethno-nationalist agendas.

Inhalt: This book develops a case for feminist gender training as a catalyst for disjuncture, rupture and change. Chapter 1 traces the historical development and current contours of the field of gender training. In Chapter 2, the key critiques of gender training are substantively engaged with from the perspective of reflexive practice, highlighting the need to work strategically within existing constraints. Questions of transformative change are addressed in Chapter 3, which reviews feminist approaches to change and how these can be applied to enhance the impact of gender training. Chapter 4 considers the theory and practice of feminist pedagogies in gender training. In the final chapter, new avenues for gender training are explored: working with privilege; engaging with applied theatre; and mindfulness/meditation. The study takes gender training beyond its often technocratic form towards a creative, liberating process with the potential to evoke tangible, lasting transformation for gender equality.
