PIAAC - Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies

PIAAC - International Survey of Adult Competencies

PIAAC is an international comparative survey initiated by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and aims to assess key adult competencies. In Germany, PIAAC takes place simultaneously in several countries and is repeated at regular intervals. PIAAC is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth with with the participation of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences is responsible for the national project management of PIAAC in Germany (2018-2025).

The German report on adaptive problem solving was published on 10. December 2025.
