Social and economic change in (West-)Germany

Abstract

The project ‘Social and Economic Change in (West) Germany’ was carried out by the German Microdata Lab at GESIS in cooperation with researchers from various universities and the Social Science Research Centre Berlin and funded as part of the Leibniz Association's 'Pact for Research and Innovation'.

The project was divided into two main phases: Firstly, the individual data from the available microcensus surveys from 1962 to 2006 were harmonised in key subject areas so that a cumulative data set could be generated. In a further step, specific aspects of socio-economic change in Germany were analysed on the basis of this data set.

After completion of the project, the cumulated microcensus file will be available for analyses by guest researchers in the German Microdata Lab. The harmonisation instruments developed are available in the form of a  report (3,12 MB).
