(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "The article presents the main results of a survey of doctoral candidates in Germany organised by Thesis e. V., an association of doctoral candidates and doctorates. The study covers a wide range of themes, such as the motivation for taking up a doctorate, the funding of doctorates and the organisation of supervision. The study indicates that there is no standardised way of getting a doctorate. More precisely, the situation of doctoral candidates differs according to subject, type of doctorate and sex."
