Inhalt: Recently, the necessity of preventive measures with respect to right-wing-extremism among girls and young women has attracted more public attention. But a concept comprising theories of the subjects involved as well as their social context and subsequent pedagogical strategies has not yet been brought forward. This contribution discusses some elements of interventions in everyday lives of right-wing-extremist young women.

The Electoral System and Women’s Political Representation in Romania
Autor/in:
Petrescu, Alexandra
Quelle: European Quarterly of Political Attitudes and Mentalities, 2 (2013) 2, S 1-8
Inhalt: Taking into account the influence of mentalities and attitudes on the construction of the political imaginary, the author is questioning the possibility if the parity or the quotas can become in the future a source of inspiration for the political representation of women in Romania. This essay analyses two francophone models, France and Belgium, where the quotas and parity are applied, and which represented during the last two centuries sources of inspiration for the electoral and constitutional framework of Romania.
Identifying the barriers to women's agency in domestic violence: the tensions between women's personal experiences and systemic responses
Autor/in:
Aldridge, Jo
Quelle: Social Inclusion, 1 (2013) 1, S 3-12
Inhalt: Despite advances in knowledge and understanding about the impacts of domestic violence on women's lives, global research on violence against women shows there is a need for research that not only places women centre stage in research praxis, but also that involves them more collaboratively in genuine dialogue about their experiences, including their agentic stances. This is especially the case for marginalised and socially excluded women victims of domestic violence, such as those who are not known or do not present to services and who survive abusive relationships alone or with little outside support. Evidence from two studies reported here-secondary analysis of women with severe and enduring mental health problems and a collaborative narrative project with unsupported women victims of domestic violence-suggest that women's capacity for agency are compromised by a number of critical factors, and that these are also reflected in the tensions between micro-macro analyses and understanding of the impact of domestic violence on women. This article considers the barriers to women's agency from the women's perspective and in the context of broader, systemic dynamics, including the denial or obscuring of abuse by governments and states and the consequences of stringent fiscal retrenchment that put women at increased risk of domestic violence.
Autor/in:
Gann, Anna-Lisa
(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "Ecuador's new constitution declared the concept of Buen Vivir, of the Good Life, as a leading one. This article examines the concept from a feminist point of view, based on positions of care economy and feminist political economy. A socially and environmentally just society is examined by considering two radical changes in Buen Vivir: the new conceptual definition of work in a solidary economic system and the recognition of rights of the nature. The broad partizipation of the population is identified as a decisive utopian approach in the building and implementation of Buen Vivir. Even though, or solely because, the politics are not leading towards a reasonable implementation until now, the bottom-up transformational process is well underway." (author's abstract)

Inhalt: "Geographical mobility is a well-established trend in European societies, and social theorists have put forward the hypothesis that mobility patterns have an impact on family trajectories and on their processes of pluralization and individualization. Using a life course perspective, the main aim of this article is to provide evidence of the impact of geographical mobility on family life in Portuguese society. The mobility and family trajectories of three different generations in their early adulthood are analyzed, with results pointing to a diversity of trajectories as well as to relevant connections between mobility variables and family trajectories. The article draws on data from a national survey on life trajectories conducted in 2010 on a representative sample of men and women (n=1,500) from three generations (born between 1935 and 1940; 1950 and 1955; and 1970 and 1975; n=500 per generation). Based on sequence and cluster analyses, the authors were able to identify seven patterns of mobility trajectories and four main types of family trajectories across the three generations. These reflect not only the biographies of individuals within our sample, but also the geographical and family changes that have been taking place in Portugal over the past few decades. Drawing on multinomial regression analysis, the article seeks to disentangle the complex linkages between mobility and family trajectories. To this end, they adopted a double angle approach by linking these two variables as predictors of each other alongside other key socio-demographic variables and life course events. The main findings reveal that geographical mobility is a significant predictor of family trajectories, even if its effects are dualistic: Mobility may work as a facilitator of standardized family trajectories (early transition to parenthood, for example), but it also predicts a higher probability of 'non-linear' family trajectories. On the other hand, family trajectories are weak predictors of mobility trajectories. The latter are predicted by variables that reflect structural constraints, such as unemployment, but gender and generation effects also play an important role and provide evidence that mobility trajectories are anchored in specific historic and social contexts. Finally, they were also able to link geographical mobility to individualization processes by examining its impact upon specific life course events related to family and gender relations."
Autor/in:
Inhalt: "This paper aims to deliver a contribution to theorise care-work in patriarchal capitalism. On an abstract level of argumentation and linking marxist-feminist and psychoanalytical perspectives, it explains the permanent devaluation of care-work. In this respect it describes and criticises the theorem of 'value-dissociation' by Roswitha Scholz in the context of marxist-feminist debates and re-conceptualises the concept in a twofold manner (formanalytically and psychoanalytically). In conclusion the marxist value-form always appears as a value-abjection-form, which as social form is a constitutive and structuring force of care work in patriarchal capitalism and explains their permanent devaluation. The article discusses current analyses and assessments of the contemporary 'multiple crisis' from the perspectives of feminist and neo-Gramscian International Political Economy (IPE). We argue for a conceptual linkage of these approaches in order to analyze the role of gendered subjectivation in currently dominant forms of crisis management. The Troika's policies in Greece are presented as an example for how the - implicitly organized - redistribution of responsibilities for socially necessary care- and reproduction work can be understood as 'subjectivation as crisis management': the displacement of crisis management into the gendered subjects themselves."
