Inhalt: "The aim of the article is to discuss Anthony Giddens' social theory and methodology of structuration with regard to a multi-dimensional institutional analysis in modern societies that takes the category of gender into account. The main thesis is that Giddens develops central elements of a theoretical frame for an institutional analysis and that these elements are of great profit for women's and gender studies. Therefore structuration theory has to be completed by the concept of the 'duality of gender' that is unfolded in the article. As main impulses of structuration theory the author discusses Giddens' multi-dimensional model of theory and his methodology for social analysis, his definition of institutions as sets of rules and resources in connection with his classification of institutional orders, and his outline of a multi-dimensional model of the institutional dimensions of modernity."
