Inhalt: "'Gendered Innovations' integrates sex and gender analysis into all phases of biomedical and health research to assure excellence and quality in outcomes. This article reports on the interdisciplinary, international collaboration that produced: 1) state-of-the-art methods of sex and gender analysis for health and medicine; and 2) case studies to illustrate how gender analysis leads to discovery in biomedicine and better outcomes in health research: osteoporosis research in men, the genetics of sex determination, heart disease in women, stem cell research, animal research, nutrigenomics and degendering knee implants. The article concludes with a short review of policy at the Canadian, US, and European institutes of health, medical curricula, and policies for peer-reviewed journals in relation to reporting sex/gender analysis in research." Inhalt: Objective: understand the experience of women with cervical cancer precursor lesions. Method: phenomenological study, with the reduction, construction, and destruction steps. Data interpretation was performed through Heidegger's comprehensive analysis. Results: the phenomena unveiled were related to women's doubts, due to lack of diagnosis; changes in relationships with partners; difficulties in making friends; family importance; coping strategies; relationship with health professionals and distrust in care; shame and embarrassment to undergo the Pap test; and fear of death. Conclusion: it was found that there is an urgent need to resize the care for a woman with cervical cancer precursor lesions, given the challenge of understanding the need that a health professional provides care from the Heideggerian perspective, establishing a relationship of being-with-the-other, appreciating her as a subject of possibilities.

Inhalt: Objective: To understand the meaning of a humanized childbirth in the conception of pregnant women. Method: This was a descriptive study of a qualitative nature with a phenomenological approach. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 15 pregnant women enrolled in an outpatient prenatal care at a university hospital in the city of Montes Claros/MG. Results: The central unveiled theme was: Understanding the humanized childbirth as one in which the professional has as prerogative the empathic relationship and technical expertise enabling the woman to experience labor and delivery as the physiological protagonist during the process. Conclusion: The pregnant women define the humanized childbirth based on the philosophical bases of childbirth humanization and birth advocated by the Ministry of Health, which has the interpersonal relationship and competent assistance as principles.

Inhalt: Objective: To analyze the sexual behavior of elderly assisted on primary health care. Method: Transversal study, exploratory and quantitative. Results: The sample was comprised of 130 elderly people, these 60,8% were male, showing age between 60 and 92 years, with an average of 69 ± 7,04 years. With respect to the sexual profile, 63,1% elderly had active sex life, being more frequent among men with stable or married. With regard to sexual desire, 30% reported having no more desire for sexual practices, represented mostly by women and 12,3% maintained total desire, with most men. Among the sexually active seniors, 17% use some preventive method for sexually transmitted diseases. Conclusion: Highlights that there is a gradual decrease in the frequency of interest and sexual practices with age, reinforces the necessity of educational action of nurses in primary health care for the elderly.

Inhalt: Objective: To study the perception of nurses about the humanization of postpartum care in a public hospital in Seridó region, Rio Grande do Norte (RN). Method: this is an exploratory and descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subjects were nurses who attend postpartum women during the postpartum period in hospital settings. Results: in the perception of nurses, humanization corresponds to adopting a different position before care, with the establishment of relationships wrapped in feelings of empathy, respect and affection. It also emerged the understanding that this is a complex process that involves the articulation of different levels of care, management of health institutions and good condition of infrastructure and human resources. Conclusion: the humanization is seen primarily as a subjective practice gifted of affective feelings toward the mothers, although enlarged conceptions have arisen.

Inhalt: Objective: to understand how mothers of preterm infants perceive the relationship between health and spirituality and its benefits on the severity health picture of their children. Method: qualitative research with 32 mothers whose children were admitted to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a maternity hospital in Natal/RN/Brazil. There were semi-structured interviews and focus groups between February and May 2012, after a favorable opinion from the Ethics Committee in Research of UFRN and CAAE 0336.0.051.000.1. Data analysis was thematic analysis. Results: the relationship between health and spirituality was unveiled in the study as a positive phenomenon helping mothers avoiding discouragement and keeping hope in restoring the health of the child in the Intensive Care Unit. Conclusion: it is suggested after the results, actions and projects that promote soft technologies, aiming at promoting and completeness in health care.

Inhalt: Objective: analyzing the values expressed in the speech of women/mothers in the accessibility of monitoring examinations of prenatal care. Method: a phenomenological, descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach. There were interviwed fifty women/pregnant of the Prenatal Program of Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The data analyzed allowed formulating themes articulated with the Theory of Values. Results: barriers experienced by women on laboratory/images examinations: delay in results, misinformation and lack of a service of quality, a value considered of vital use for them. We realize the need for change in monitoring prenatal, considering a network of unified and integrated health with quality services at different levels of care, promoting wellness, comfort and safety to pregnant women as a vital value to their health. Conclusion: the health network should be unified for a better quality of services offered to women.
