Inhalt: "This article presents quantitative results of a study of 139 academic women in the chemical sciences who participated in a professional development program sponsored by the Committee on the Advancement of Women Chemists. The study investigated variables frequently examined in the vocational psychology of women: approaches to achievement, coping strategies, career advancement, the home-work interface, workplace climate, and mentoring. The article presents and discusses results in the context of unique issues faced by women in scientific careers." (author's abstract)

Titelübersetzung:Work and career issues for women scientists in industrial research and development in the United States
Autor/in:
DiTomaso, Nancy; Farris, George F.
(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "This paper compares the responses of women and men scientists in industrial research and development laboratories from a survey conducted in 1990-91. Results indicate that the women scientists play a more marginal role, are less integrated into their work groups, and evaluate their own performance as lower than the men, even when their managers rate them similarly. Although women have greater family care responsibilities, this does not account for the differences found." (author's abstract)
