Inhalt: "Based on the great importance of gainful employment as a medium of socialization, this article analyses the so-called standard employment relationship, which represents the normality and norm of gainful employment in Germany. With regard to three different feminist power contexts, this core labour and social policy institution is theorized as a power and domination relationship that virtually requires the exclusion of women, makes gender inequalities within the labour market and in regards to social security permanent, and that ultimately prevents changes in gender relations. The article further argues that the institution thereby acts as a barrier for an egalitarian social participation of women and men. In order to develop a framework for a new standard employment relationship, the authors outline a new concept for conceptualizing employment. This concept comprehends employment in its social context and as a result provides a basis for gender equality." (author's abstract)

Inhalt: The Euromaidan revolution is already the third political revolution in Ukraine in recent times. Men and women participated equally in this revolution, but women are often described as "only" being helpers while men "made" the revolution and actively fought at the barricades. The article aims to reflect the gender roles of men and women in this revolution. Interviews, blog notes and scientific articles are utilised to show the tasks and responsibilities of men and women at the Maidan.
From women's quota to "women's politics": the impact of gender quotas on political representations and practices in the Pakistani National Parliament

(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "In 2002, the Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf announced that 17% of the seats in the National Assembly and Senate would be reserved to women. Though quotas for women were not a new phenomenon in Pakistan, they had never reached this level. Moreover, after they had been dropped in 1988, the representation of women in the Pakistani parliament fell under 3%. Thus the entry of more than 80 women in Parliament (about 20% of all MPs) in 2002 was considered as a game changer in Pakistani politics, and Musharraf's decision was generally praised by activists of the women's movement. The article tries to evaluate how women construct new ways to do politics in their discourses and practices, and what place gender norms and representations occupy in this process. While recognizing women's agency though quota regulations, it is also argued that a distinctive demarcation of 'women's politics' can bring about constraints, contribute to women's marginalization in the political field, and strengthen gender stereotypes."
