Inhalt: "Today, the dynamics of gender relations hardly can be explained without reconsidering supranational factors. In this contribution, the case of the European Community law in the field of gender policy will exemplify this. In the first step, institutionalist approaches will be presented, which examine the construction and institutionalization of norms with reference to different system levels as well as in relation to the EU (I). Against this background the formation and change of the art. 119 of the Rome Treaty (1957) will serve as a case to reconstruct the supranational gender policy and the tools of its application (II). Following the institutional perspective, this process of institutionalization will be conceptualized as the structuration of an organizational field (III). It will be argued that legal obligations of EU-gender equality norms reflect the emergent level of europeanization with respect to the regional differentiation of the world polity."
