Finally, the author examines the recent Polish cases of "honour" killings and shows the risk of their growing impact on Polish society and law that justifies taking immediate steps (creating adequate strategy) to deter the increase of the problem.
Trafficking of women in Mexico and their health risk: issues and problems

Inhalt: Trafficking in women is one of the most corrosive forms of human rights violation. It results in the gradual destruction of a woman's personal identity and her right to live as a free human. The victim is subjected to violence, humiliation and violation of her personal integrity, which may result in life threatening diseases like HIV/AIDS, STDs or lifelong trauma, drug addiction or personality disintegration. It can also be seen as denial of the right to liberty and security of the person, and the right to freedom from torture, violence, cruelty or degrading treatment. Over the last few decades, international trafficking of women has been given more attention by researchers. However at present internal trafficking is drawing more attention and concern from researchers. The complexity of obtaining visas and strict patrolling on international borders has caused a boom of internal trafficking around the world. Thus, the current paper aims to investigate trafficking of women for sexual exploitation including the recruitment process, methods of trafficking and working conditions of the victims; as well as to explore the determinants of sexual violence and its impact on the health of trafficked women in Monterrey, Mexico. For the present study a total of 60 women were interviewed using a snowball method between 2007 and 2013.

Hafner, Gerhard

(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "Batterer intervention was introduced in the United States in the 1970s as part of the fight against domestic violence. It has proved its worth in the context of the Community Coordinated Response approach. This article presents approaches from the United States that posit more diverse methods, for instance threat assessment or special services for specific perpetrators. Discussions in the United States about the evolution of batterer intervention are presented here since they have so far gone largely unnoticed in German-speaking countries." (author's abstract)

Geschlechtergerechte Chancen auf staatlichen Ausgleich? Eine Aktenanalyse von Anträgen auf Opferentschädigung
Titelübersetzung:Equal chances for men and women to receive state compensation? An analysis of claims filed for victim's compensation
Autor/in:
(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "Victims of interpersonal violence who have been confirmed to suffer health problems as a result of the crime are entitled to medical treatment, rehabilitation and monthly pensions paid by the state. Only a small number of victims of violence benefit from this compensation scheme, however. This paper analyses all claims for compensation (n=209) to the social welfare office in Fulda/Hessen that were closed in 2008 as well as expert interviews and examines whether the law and its practice ensure equal chances for all genders to receive compensation under the German Crime Victim Compensation Act (OEG). The police statistics show that men tend to become victims of violence in public spaces while women are more likely to experience domestic violence. In this sample, victims of family and intimate partner violence were underrepresented in the claims for victim compensation. Legal regulations and procedures reduce the chances of compensation for domestic violence. This could be an indicator of structural discrimination against woman." (author's abstract)

Kritische Anmerkungen zur These der Gendersymmetrie bei Gewalt in Paarbeziehungen
Titelübersetzung:Critical comments on the thesis of gender symmetry in domestic violence
Autor/in:
(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "The article focuses critically on the thesis of 'gender symmetry' in domestic violence, and discusses its empirical and scientific, as well as political, relevance. Empirical data shows that victimization of men and women through violence in heterosexual couple relationships differs relevantly when patterns and levels of violence, as well as contextual meanings, are taken into account. Despite this, the author argues, that it is necessary to depolarize unbalanced victim-perpetrator discourses that tend to fix women and men in traditional positions." (author's abstract)
