(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "Based on theoretical assumptions concerning the importance of the educational system as well as the 'habitus' (Bourdieu) for the reproduction of social inequality, it is investigated to which extent the social origin has an impact on the professional career. According to a poll among graduates from polytechnic institutes it can be stated that there are indeed posteducative disadvantages. However, this connection is not as strong as expected, and in the long run it did not become any stronger. Theoretical arguments and empirical results show a specific kind of habitus and a characteristic range of professional positions achieved." (author's abstract)
