(Autorenreferat)
Inhalt: "This study is based on the data acquired through a written questionaire about the everyday cultural routine of students of two exemplarily selected subjects (pedagogy and law) and on the theoretical background of Bourdieu's Habitus Concept. Subject specific elements of student's life style are brought forth, which show that the acquisition of an academic subject habitus means simultaneously the practice of a social habitus of a specific occupational position or 'class faction'. The tendency of the pedagogic students to favor an alternative life style, including improvisation, individuality and creativity, expresses certain ambitions in the direction of an intellectual habitus of the educated lower middle class, which anticipates the responsibility of the pedagogical profession. On the other hand, the more conventional life style of the law students, where 'stylishness' and tastefulness play a larger role, embodies an orientation along the lines of the standards of upper middle class manner and culture. This life style can be interpreted as the expression of a sense of belonging to a socially powerful occupation with high status. The social background of the students concerning the shaping of this habitus has less influence than expected." (author's abstract)
