Inhalt: "In this essay, the thesis that emerging scientific disciplines that need institutional and epistemic legitimation are more open to women than established ones is discussed. To support this thesis, the case of the first female phenomenologists who did their research in the field of emotions and sociality is examined. In order to show in which ways new disciplines are more open to women than established ones, different German schools of thought at the beginning of the XXth Century - like neokantianism, experimental psychology, phenomenology, psychoanalysis, sociology and logic - are compared. The intellectual biographies of the female phenomenologists Else Voigtländer, Edith Stein and Gerda Walther are presented and it is shown how their work influenced their male colleagues. In the conclusion, theses are formulated about the conditions of their success as part of the scientific community and the limitations they were confronted with in the pursuit of their university careers."
